Samanie

Clay Martin Samanie, 72, of Linden, was called to our heavenly home to be with the Lord in Heaven Sunday, April 26. Mr. Samanie was born December 21. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30 in the Chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Burial followed in the New Colony Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.

Willie Lynn Dowell was born December 9, 1964 and was called to rest on April 24. Services were held at noon on Saturday, May 2. Burial followed at Mt. Moriah Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Cemetery in Hughes Springs.

Mr. Robert Lee Chism was born September 27, 1926 in Cass County, Texas to the union of Janie Montgomery and Billie Chism and passed from this earth on February 20, 2015. Funeral services for Mr. Chism were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial followed at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Services for Zetha Fisher were held at 12 p.m. Saturday Feb. 28 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial followed at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Mrs. Mrs. Fisher began her life journey on November 15, 1932 in Morris County and passed away on Feb. 19.

Surratt

Dorothy Lee Lumpkin Surratt went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 28. She was born December 9, 1927, in Hughes Springs, Texas to Beulah Grace Lumpkin Townley and Milton Lumpkin. Dorothy graduated from Hughes Springs High School in 1945. She married the love of her life, Dude Surratt, on May 31, 1945. They were married for 66 years. Dorothy started a flower shop in Hughes Springs with her mother, and later Dude helped them until they retired in 1991. She loved beautiful flowers and plants as anyone who knew her and saw her yard can attest. She received a Crystal Globe Award from the Chamber of Commerce on January 14, 2012. She loved to cross stitch and made a bedspread and pillow shams for each of her children and grandchildren. She adored her family and loved to cook for them and was the happiest when they came to visit. She and Dude attended almost every sporting and academic event in which children and grandchildren participated.

Lee

Margie Lee, 79, of Daingerfield passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Longview, TX. She was born Margaret Lucille Gannon on January 15, 1936, in Mcintosh, S.D. to Leo and Susie Gannon. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck, N.D. and attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, S.D. Margie worked for the Daingerfield-Lone ISD in the Early Childhood Program with special needs children and had a wonderful gift of loving and caring for these children. Margie delighted in time spent with her grandchildren; she also enjoyed cooking and dancing. Margie was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish where she taught religious education classes for many years and was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Margie was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Susie Gannon, her sister Shirley Traywick and brothers William, Frank, Jim, Tom and Don. She was also preceded in death by Jimmie Wayne Lee. She is survived by her four children, Daniel W.

Funeral services for Charles Wayne Griffin, 84, of Daingerfield, were held Friday, Feb. 20 at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial followedat Clark Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Griffin was born Jan. 21, 1931 in Daingerfield and passed away Feb. 16 at a Longview hospital. He worked in the trucking industry and was a veteran of the US Navy.

Services for Carol Joan Mizell, 79, of Hughes Springs, were held Thursday, Feb. 19 at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial took place Friday, Feb. 20, at Mizell Cemetery in Splendora, Texas. Mrs. Mizell was born Jan. 30, 1936 in Eureka, Kansas and passed away Feb. 16 in Hughes Springs.

Gray

Zellner Ann Smith Gray, 78, wife of the late Glynn Wilson Gray, of Omaha, Tx. passed away at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant on Jan. 30, 2015. In accordance with her wishes, her remains were donated to science. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. She was born Sept. 18, 1936 to Sollie Birl and Callie Zellner Page Smith in Atlanta, Ga. She was the youngest of eight children. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, loving babysitter to many children, Past Worthy Matron of the Omaha Eastern Star Chapter 997 and member of the Rocky Point Congregational Methodist Church where she served as secretary/ treasurer. She will also be remembered for the beautiful wedding cakes that she made.

Mrs. McKelvy was born July 8, 1956 in Orange Co., CA and passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, in Llano, Texas.

Beyer

Wayne Frank Beyer TSGT USAF was born March 12, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Cleveland schools and enlisted in Army Air Corps after attending Communications Security School. He served in Japan with Occupation Forces at the end of World War II, Korea during the Korean Conflict, Thailand/Vietnam in the early part of Vietnam War. He was an Air Force Communications Instructor during stateside tours.
Tours additionally covered most of Southeast Asia, Japan, Pacific islands of Johnston Island, Guam, and Hawaii. Stateside tours included Arizona, Texas, and South Dakota. Wayne married Dianne Crossland of Daingerfield, Texas in July, 1968. He retired from United States Air Force in December, 1972. He actively supported Veterans organizations after retirement until diagnosed with congenital heart disease. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services for Rod William Carnahan,74, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 13, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Interment was at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler.
