Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Shane Lawrence is enlisting the public’s help in locating the driver of a hit and run vehicle from an incident occurring Saturday, Sept. 28, at approximately 1:20 p.m.
“On Highway 49 and County Road 3108 there was a green Ford Crown Vic making a left-hand turn onto County Road 3108 when a black, either a Jeep Laredo or Jeep Cherokee that passed in a no-passing zone, clipped the front of the car and kept going,” Trooper Lawrence said. “There should be substantial damage to the right side of that black vehicle.”

Silent Witness shines a light on family violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Safe-T Agency in Mount Pleasant is hosting a Silent Witness Ceremony in the Daingerfield City Park at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct.13.  Members of Ounce of Prevention and area citizens are invited to participate.
The wooden cutouts in the shapes of victims will represent the silent witnesses of those who have died at the hands of a violent partner, family member, or child who was fatally injured.  Family members of the victims and other concerned citizens will light a prayer candle and place it at the feet of the figure to honor their loved one’s memory or those who remain nameless due to not being able to confirm the cause.
The Silent Witness National Initiative began in 1990 when a group of women in Minnesota formed a coalition to bring awareness to crimes against women and to dramatically reduce the number of domestic violence murders.
