His Presence, My Home

Devotional by Elizabeth Seybert

When I was a young girl growing up in the small
town of Fordyce in Central Arkansas, I loved
to find a comfortable limb up in the old pear tree by
the side of our house. I would hide away and read
for hours. I loved to hide away.

From My Perspective: Perfectly Imperfect

By Toni Walker Editor of The Steel Country Bee We live in a cookie-cutter society. We drive cars made on assembly lines to homes that look remarkably similar to the ones on either side. We spend our time using, watching, or playing devices made en masse, most likely in some other country. We even eat “fast food” that is basically made assembly-line style, so that each burger looks exactly the same. This perfection mentality has spilled over into our personal lives, and how we, especially women, view ourselves and the things we have been through. Devotional: Freedom from your Prison

By Sister Karen Williams
Wife of Brother Timothy Williams,
The Next Level Church

When we sin we place ourselves in our own type
of prison. Sin is pleasurable for a season but when
it has been conceived it brings forth death.
When we sin...something has to die. It’s called consequence.

A Patriot's Opinion

Mr. President, Your Bias is Showing
By Jim Snyder
Well I’m sure by now all of you have heard the story of the 14 year old Muslim
boy from Texas who brought a clock to school that he supposedly built and the teacher thought it looked
like a bomb. The boy was arrested and removed from school. But low and behold President Obama got
word of this poor young man’s fate and invited him to the White House.

From My Perspective

40 is the new...
By Toni Walker
Forty. The big 4-0. After taking a little time to get acclimated to being 40, I have decided to share my perspective
on this number that some look forward to, and some dread. Why do we look forward to some
ages, yet dread others?
I can remember being younger and thinking how OLD 40 was. It seemed like I was so far away that
number that it would never happen to me!

The Late, Great Pastor

This is the third and final article in a series designed to encourage our area pastors
and pull the cover off our hearts and heads for the average church-goer to see. I
pray these three articles have been helpful and uplifting. I pray they have been informative
for the Church! And I pray, more than anything, they serve to let our pastors
know that are not fighting this battle all by ourselves. Let’s begin…

From My Perspective

Many women are faced each year with either miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of a child shortly after birth. I am one of those women, having had 3 miscarriages and losing our son Joshua 18 hours after his birth. My perspective, which has made me who I am, has been to take these times and turn them in order to help others. At 26 years of age, in 2002, my husband and I were excited to be pregnant with our first child, after suffering two miscarriages in the previous year. Shortly before we celebrated our second anniversary with a trip to my parent’s home in Alabama, we...To continue reading this article, purchase the August 6th edition of the Steel Country Bee, or go to our online e-edition at: http://www.etypeservices.com/Daingerfield%20BeeID312/default.aspx

It's Time to do away with the IRS

For anyone who has dealt with the IRS recently it is painfully apparent
that this agency has outlived their usefulness. It is virtually impossible
to get a live person on the phone when you have a problem. You stay
on a never ending marathon of automated phone tag with a computer
asking you to choose one of 5 options as to what your specific question or
problem is. And after what seems like 30 minutes of pushing buttons in several
different menus the computer voice tells you that due to extremely
high call volume they can’t talk to you right now, and to call back on
another day. To continue reading this article, purchase the August 6th edition of the

The Wonderful Waymaker

Devotional by Daniel Bramlett
I am sitting in the airport in Lima, Peru. I am in this particular airport
often enough that it feels like home. I come here not simply because I’ve seen
God work here before. I come here because I expect Him to work here
again. I come here because I hear Jesus say go into ALL the world and I can’t figure
out another way to faithfully interpret that command than literally going
as a Gospel emissary into ALL the world. If you know me at all, you know this is a
common conversation!
This particular week we watched as God did some incredible things. One of
our purposes in being here was to purchase land for an orphanage.
