I have lived in: Hughes Springs.
Family: Barbara Ann Jimmerson and Frances Woosds.
Occupation: Retired from the railroad.
One of the best things about my job was: Pay was excellent.
My ideal vacation is: Hawaii.
My hero is: My mother because I love her. She did a lot for me.
My favorite TV show is: Family Feud.
My favorite healthy snack is: Bananas.
A cause I most believe in is: God.
If I could change one thing about East Texas, it would be: The weather.
The person who has influenced my life most is: Marilyn Criss because she makes me act right in activities.
The scariest thing that ever happened to me was: Having a stroke.
If I had to do it all over again, I’d: Have gone to church more often.

Hannah Yeager of Hughes Springs High School is the recipient of the Academic Award by the Sesame Literary Club. She received a Hughes Springs jacket.
Antral Walker of Daingerfield High School signs to play football at Kansas Western, while Jordan Gibbons signs to play football at Kansas Western.
The new subdivision in Daingerfield on McMillon Way in the Dogwood Terrace Subdivision is progressing. It is the first subdivision built in the last 22 years in Daingerfield.

Fish Fry
The Jenkins Volunteer Fire Department will host a fish fry Saturday, March 9, starting at 11 a.m. The fish fry will be held at the fire station in Jenkins.

Scholarship 5K Fun Run

Class Reunion
A class reunion for the Traylor High Alumni has been tentatively scheduled for Aug. 17 at the old Traylor High School on Pecan Street in Hughes Springs. Defending yourself and your home

 

 We can’t turn on the radio or television or look on the Internet without being bombarded with talk of gun control and gun violence and so on and so forth. In talking with Jim Snyder the other night, he said there is a record number of people who are taking gun classes to qualify for a concealed handgun license, referred to as a CHL. After the tragedy in Connecticut at Sandy Hook, more people are mindful of protecting themselves and their families. Some school districts are now allowing qualified and licensed staff to carry guns on campus. I’m sure there  are mixed feelings about that; however,
