Some catchy Christmas gift ideas buy American

Normally I don’t pass on a whole lot of things from emails, but in this instance, some of the things said just caught my eye. With Black Friday history, now Thanksgiving Day shopping, Cyber Monday, and Christmas fast approaching, it seemed like many of them are good ideas. It reads as follows:
“As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods - merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor.
“This year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift-giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is. There really are a lot of things.

The Buzz: Praise for a hard worker

Honestly, the woman is a walking, talking encyclopedia of information as to things not only offered in our communities, but state-wide and nationally as well.  A few years ago Martha Baker of Daingerfield began the Ounce of Prevention meetings, and the first one of the fall season kicked off Sept. 10, with a very large attendance.
The group had outgrown the rooms at the Daingerfield Volunteer Fire Department where they had been meeting, and they were graciously offered the use of the fellowship rooms at Church on the Rock in Daingerfield. It was nearly an overflow crowd at the first fall meeting, with Pastor Randy Seybert running to the storage closet and bringing out more tables and chairs.
