The Fifth Annual Spelling Bee, sponsored by Daingerfield Educational Foundation, will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m. at the Daingerfield High School Cafeteria, preceded by a barbecue brisket and rib dinner at 5:30 p.m. The Spelling Bee activities will follow the dinner in the cafeteria.
Through the Daingerfield Educational Foundation member’s efforts with the Spelling Bee, last year they were able to approve and fund grants totaling $11,715 to South Elementary, West Elementary and the Agricultural Department.
“Because of these efforts, students and teachers in each of the campuses have benefitted,” said John Bryan, president of the Daingerfield Educational Foundation. “We would not have achieved this success without the generous contributions from businesses and civic organizations.
