Smith
Services for George W. Smith, 90, of Hughes Springs, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs. Interment will follow in Hughes Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Mr. Smith was born Sept. 23, 1922, at Crossroads Community in Hughes Springs and died Jul y 27 at a nursing home in Hughes Springs.

Lyon
Nadine Lyon, 92, of Hughes Springs never had any children, but she had become the matriarch of her church and in some ways, of her beloved Hughes Springs.
Her life came to an end July 25 at a Longview hospital, after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Wellington, to Green and Eula Cockrill Parsons and the family moved to Hughes Springs in 1938. Soon afterward, she and her husband, the late John Lyon, established and operated Lyon’s Café in Hughes Springs. Except for Mr. Lyon’s three-year service in World War II, the Lyons ran their café continuously until John’s death in 1977. The couple also provided meals for Steed Hospital, also in Hughes Springs.
Mrs. Lyon’s contributions to her community included actively serving decades on the Hughes Springs Cemetery board, where among other things she facilitated planting of many beautiful crepe myrtles throughout. She was a charter member and former president of Red Radiance Garden Club.

Whaley
Services for Rodney Lee Whaley, 69, of Marietta will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 27, at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs. Interment will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery. There will be visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Whaley was born April 7, 1944, in Eric, Okla., and died July 22 at his home.

Irvin
Graveside services for George A. Irvin, 90, of Hughes Springs, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 25, at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Irvin was born May 7, 1923, in Hughes Springs, and died July 21 at a Hughes Springs nursing facility.

Gibbs Services for Jerry W. Gibbs, 72, will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Mr. Gibbs was born on May 26, 1941, in Naples, to Orb and Edna Gibbs and was the youngest of five children. He died July 20 in Longview. He graduated from Paul H. Pewitt High School and was a veteran of both United States Air Force and the East Texas oil industry. Mr. Gibbswas a loving husband to Sandra and the proud father of three children as well as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orb and Edna Gibbs; his brothers, Boyd Gibbs and Troy Gibbs; a sister, Opal Vissering; a nephew, Hugh Gibbs.

Beaver Services for Mildred Beaver, 89, of Daingerfield will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the Nail-Haggard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Clayton officiating. Interment will be in the Daingerfield Cemetery. Mrs. Beaver was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Atlanta and died July 19, in Longview. Watkins
Services for L.E. Watkins, 78, Hallsville, will be held July 22 at Stanmore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Abraham officiating. Interment will be in Grace Hill.
Mr. Watkins was born Feb. 14, 1935, in Hallsville and died July 17 at his residence.
Visitation will be July 21 at Stanmore Funeral Home in Longview.

Burns
Frances E. Burns, 90, was born July 11, 1922, in Cass County to Leo and Eva Foster and died July 20 in a Mount Pleasant hospital.
There will be visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Inc. in Hughes Springs.

Hill Services for Bobby Hill, 77, of Hughes Springs will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 21, at Reeder Davis Chapel with Steven Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery in Daingerfield under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Inc. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Hill was born May 17, 1936, and passed away July 18, in a Linden hospital. He owned and operated Hill’s Grocery in Hughes Springs for many years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dede Hill on May 19. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hill of Hughes Springs; brother, Cecil Hill of Quilan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jan and Mike Floyd and Peggy and Gerald Phillips, all of Cason and Alice Henderson and Ann Hill, both of Hughes Springs.

Epps
Services for Leamon C. Epps, 86, of Daingerfield, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at the Daingerfield High School Auditorium with the Rev. Jesse Biles officiating. Interment will be in the Daingerfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, July 19, from noon to 8 p.m.at the Harmon Funeral Home in Daingerfield.
Mr. Epps was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Daingerfield and died July 16 at East Texas Medical Center in Pittsburg.
