Ira Y. Bicknell Jr.

Services for Ira Y. Bicknell Jr., 86, of Pittsburg, will be held May 11 at Erman Smith Funeral Home with Scott Darby officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Titus County.

Mr. Bicknell was born Oct. 3, 1926, to Ira Young Bicknell Sr. and Wayvalyn Schuler Ekstrom in Shreveport, La., and died May 8 at Margaret’s House in Longview. He was a rancher, Merchant Marine in World War II, banker, cashier and vice president of the National Bank of Daingerfield. He also worked for the Texas Forest Service and the accounting department at Lone Star Steel.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Russell Bicknell, and his parents.

Mr. Bicknell is survived by his wife, Mozelle Bicknell of Pittsburg; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Rhoda Bicknell of Pittsburg; step daughter, Mary Ann Barton; grandchildren, Mathew Bicknell of Mount Pleasant and Jason and Roxanne Bicknell of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers; and one sister.

Doris Cupp Guinn, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, May 6, at her home in Daingerfield while surrounded by family.  Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, at South Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Chad Thompson and Dr. Neal Clark officiating.

Mrs. Guinn and her twin sister, Dorothy, were born to James A. and Era Lee McTyre Lester on May 13, 1924, in Daingerfield.  She grew up the youngest of seven children on the family’s farm in Morris County during the Great Depression.  She spent the majority of her life in her hometown of Daingerfield and attended the Daingerfield schools; how-ever, her family moved to Louisiana for a short time where she graduated from Rodessa High School.

Services for Marjorie Hunley Brewster, 79, of Lone Star will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, at First Baptist Church in Lone Star with the Revs. Sluggo Norris and Frank Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in the Clark Cemetery.

Mrs. Brewster was born June 24, 1933, in Joplin, Mo. and died May 4, in Longview.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Services for Malvin Hall, 79, of Linden, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at First Baptist Church in Linden with the Rev. Bryan Baggett officiating. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Hall was born July 4, 1933, to Lee and Hazel Surratt Hall, and died May 4 at his home.

Bobby Gene Royal was born on Nov. 2, 1941 in Hughes Spring. He was the second of eleven children born to Reed and Eula V (Turner) Royal. He grew up in Hughes Springs and graduated from Traylor High School in 1960.

Because he was very dedicated to his family and his country, he served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge after doing a tour of duty in Germany. Upon his return to the states he returned to his home and found the love of his life.

Mrs. Dowell was born July 16, 1937 to the late Jakie and Gracie Bolden in Avinger and died April 26.

Graveside services for Mable Martin, 93, of Marietta, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, at Union Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Ike Thompson officiating.

Mrs. Martin was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Cedar Hill and died April 28 in Omaha.
