Smith-Wylie

Jody and Heidi Smith of Daingerfield are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Jo Smith, to Russell Lee Wylie, son of John M. and Jana Wylie, of Henderson.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Al Fredrickson, the late Judy Fredrickson, Cliff and Wynell Steely and the late Mack Smith, all of Daingerfield. She graduated from Daingerfield High School in 2011 and is a student at University of Texas at Tyler.
The prospective groom is the grandson of the late John R. and Alice Wylie and Dixie Freeman, all of Henderson, the late H.L. “Bud” Jablonowski of Waco and Elaine Jablonowski of Waco. He graduated from Henderson High School in 2008 and was a Cum Laude graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in 2012 with a degree in mathematics. He is employed at Henderson Independent School District.
The ceremony will be at 2 p.m., June 7, at South Union Baptist Church in Daingerfield with Chad Thompson and Keith Lybrand officiating.

Wilkerson, Goodwin exchange vows

Tia Wilkerson and Dakota Goodwin, both of Ore City, were married Nov. 13 in Daingerfield with Morris County Justice of the Peace Frank Sisk officiating.  
Parents of the bride are Joseph and Amanda Wilkerson of Mount Peasant and parents of the groom are Mandy Carmack of Lone Star and Chuck Goodwin of Hayworth, Okla.

McGill - Tankersley

Mr. and Mrs. John Gaylon McGill Jr.  of Daingerfield announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Leigh, to James Wood Tankersley, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ingram Tankersley of Bells, Tenn.  
Grandparents of the bride-elect are Mr. and Mrs. Gaylon McGill and the late Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Shadid of Daingerfield.  Grandparents of the prospective groom are the late Mr. and Mrs. James O. Tankersley and Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Wood of Bells, Tenn.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Daingerfield High School and Texas A&M University with a degree in biomedical science. She received a doctor of dental surgery degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio Dental School and practices dentistry in Huntingdon, Tenn.
The prospective groom graduated from University School of Jackson High School and Union University with a degree in economics and finance.

Schindler–Adams exchange vows Nov. 9

Chelsea Lyn Schindler and Scott Henry Adams, both of Seattle, Wash., were married Nov. 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Hughes Springs, Chelsea’s hometown church.  The bride’s sister-in-law, Pastor Elizabeth Ingram Schindler, officiated.  
Parents of the bride are Lyle and Betsy Schindler of Hughes Springs and parents of the groom are Barb and Vince Adams of Naples, Fla.  Brothers and sisters attending the couple, included Greg Adams, Steve Adams, Kim Lloyd, Lauren Milan and Steven Schindler.  Nine nieces, nephews and friends served as flower girls and ring bearers.  Grandparents of the groom are Hank and Dot Benedict, also from Naples.
A reception followed in Jefferson, for guests from 17 states and three countries.   Dinner, dancing, carriage rides and Chinese lantern launching were followed by a send-off with paper airplanes made from flight maps.  Afterwards, the couple was whisked away in a restored 1963 Buick Riviera.

PFC Zachary Shane Blythe graduated from Army basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., on June 7, as an infantryman. He was awarded expert shot in basic training and in his unit high point score and team leader skills.
PFC Blythe is stationed at Fort Hood.  The 2001 graduate of Hughes Springs High School is the son of Shane Bythe and Amanda King; the grandson of Regina Lewis and Donna Blythe, and the late Roger Lewis and Ronnie Blythe.

Adams & Chittenden

Erica Adams of Hughes Springs and Ronald Chittenden Jr. of Cumby are proud to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Linda and David Adams of Hughes Springs. The prospective groom is the son of Carol Ann and George Wetherby of Cumby and Ron and Jeanette Chittenden of Texarkana.
The couple’s wedding will take place on Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at The Legacy in Hughes Springs. The reception will follow, also at The Legacy, at 122 E. 1st St.

NTCC welders help tornado victims in Moore

On May 20, the world watched in horror as an EF5 tornado swept through Moore, Okla. More than 20 people were killed and hundreds of homes were destroyed, leaving the community devastated and literally buried beneath tons of debris.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Texas Community College Welder’s Association began to formulate an idea of how they could reach out to help the people of Moore. Within two weeks the group had formulated a plan of action and 12 people headed north to lend a hand.

I have lived in: Ardmore, Okla. for almost a year then came back home to Daingerfield.

Family: My husband, Gabriel and our daughter, Roxanna Belle.

Occupation: Waitress at China Café in Daingerfield.

One of the best things about my job is: The hometown hospitality and of course my wonderful co-workers.

Blood Drive

Morris County Sheriff Jack Martin will host the Lifeshare Blood Center of Texarkana, at the Courthouse Annex Building in front of the Sheriff's Office at 502 Union St. in Daingerfield. Lifeshare is currently experiencing a shortage and help is needed. The blood drive is between 1 and 6 p.m. Aug. 6.
