Church News

First Methodist – Lone Star First United Methodist Church is hosting its annual Mothers’ Day Brunch Sunday at 10 a.m. The men of the church will be preparing food for the ladies, and all who attend. This free event is open to all. Morning worship follows at 11.

Williams Chapel - There will be prayer, praise and preaching at Williams Chapel Baptist Church on Highway 259 South on May 18 from 10 a.m. to noon. The guest speakers will be Niakesha Douglas of Mt. Zion and Lakeda Monroe of New Birth.
Light refreshments will be served, and everyone is invited.

M.O.M. support group
M.O.M. (Ministering Our Military) support group will have its monthly meeting on May 16 at 6 p.m. at Sisters Bistro in Mount Pleasant.  M.O.M. is a group of military family members who come together to support and minister to those who have loved ones currently in the military, serving our country.  For more information visit the Facebook page (M.O.M. Community prays together

In spite of the cold and rainy weather, National Day of Prayer was well attended in the pavilion of Spring Park in Hughes Springs. Several pastors from Avinger, Hughes Springs, and Daingerfield joined in offering prayers for the national and the communities in the area.

Daingerfield woman to hold listening party

A 1987 graduate of Daingerfield High School has planned a listening party for her new gospel release ‘Patiently Waiting.’
Janette Everett-Morgan, writer and gospel singer, will host the party May 11 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Morris County Courthouse Annex.
“I wrote all the songs on this album except one,” she said. “Anyone is welcome to come to the listening party. Refreshments will be served.”

Cookout
A Community Cookout at Hughes Springs United Methodist Church will be held Saturday at 5 p.m.  Everyone is invited, and there is no charge to attend.

National Day of Prayer
The 62nd Annual National Day of Prayer will be held at Spring Park in Hughes Springs May 2, at noon. Pastors will be Paul Denny of Veal Switch Baptist Church, Brian Baldwin of Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church, and Lester Cally of Harris Chapel Methodist Church.

Music City Texas
Jo-El Sonnier will appear May 25 at 8 p.m. at Music City Texas Theater in Linden. There will be a community gospel show May 4. For further information, call 903-756-9934.

Class Reunion

Coach tells why he turned to Christ

These days, former football coach Rick Gage considers small-town football stadiums a place to preach not coach football.
Mr. Gage leads a slate of speakers taking the field at Sam Parker Football Field in Mount Pleasant May 12 through 15 for the Northeast Texas GO TELL Crusade, including Cleveland Browns defensive quality control coach Daron Roberts. Roberts, a native of Mount Pleasant, will give his testimony May 15, and will arrive early to participate in the  youth night activities.

Iron Bluff Cemetery Association to meet

The annual meeting of the Iron Bluff Cemetery Association will be held at the Senior Citizens’ Building in Lone Star on May 18 at 10 a.m. There will be a time of fellowship, followed by a business meeting at 10:30 a.m.
