Edwards

Services for Andy Edwards Jr., 79, of Hughes Springs, were held Feb. 23 at Hughes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Travis Bowie, Lionelle Traylor and Laurence Stokes officiating.
Mr. Edwards was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Hughes Springs to Andy Edwards Sr. and Annie Turner and died Feb. 14 in Arizona.

Mr. Johnson was born June 25, 1987, in Naples and died Feb. 19 at Beacon Hospice/Margaret’s House in Longview.

Shaw

Earnest L. Shaw

Graveside services for Earnest L. Shaw, 82, of Daingerfield, were held Feb. 20 at Corinth Cemetery, with Bro. Ricky Vestal officiating. 
Mr. Shaw was born May 29, 1930, in Linden, and died Feb. 17 at a Longview hospital. Mr. Shaw was retired from Lone Star Steel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Bertha Shaw; one sister, Emma Harrington; and one brother, Rudolph Shaw.
 Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marilee Shaw, of Daingerfield; two daughters, Luanne Hopkins and husband, Mike, of Hughes Springs, and Judy Davis and husband, Johnny, of Pittsburg; two sons, Gordon Shaw and wife, Kathy, of Shreveport, and Mark Shaw and wife, LaVern, of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Margie Lawson, of Malvern, Ark.; one brother, Wayne Shaw of Marshall; one brother-in-law, Sam McCord, of Texas City; one sister-in-law, Jean Mitchell of Berwick, La; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Billy Joe Sellars, 80, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Daingerfield, died Feb. 18 in a Seattle hospital.
Mr. Sellars was born June 20, 1932, in Carbon. Mr. Sellars was a graduate of Daingerfield High School.

Services for John A. Dodd, 95, of Daingerfield, were held Feb. 16 at First Baptist Church in Daingerfield with interment in Whitmore Cemetery.
Mr. Dodd was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Spartanburg County, S.C. and died Feb. 9 in Shreveport, La.
Mr. Dodd was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the Morris County American Legion Post #92, and a Pearl Harbor survivor.

Mrs. Haney was born April 24, 1939, in Mount Pleasant and died Feb. 10, in Campbell.

Lee

Services for Jimmie Wayne Lee, 74, were held Feb. 12 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with interment in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
Mr. Lee born Feb. 26, 1938, in Jenkins, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 8 in Longview. He served his country 20 years in the United States Navy, serving on several aircraft carriers, the last of which was the USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14), retiring with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He returned to East Texas to work as an electrician at Lone Star Steel, and ultimately retired from Friedman Industries. He was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church, enjoyed vacations to Rockport with his beloved grandchildren, loved music and dancing, and working in the garden. No Christmas was ever complete without the annual appearance of Jimmie’s homemade cheese balls, coveted by family and friend.

Parrish

A memorial service for James Roy Parrish will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst.
Mr. Parrish, 74, was granted his angel wings at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends in his home in Hurst.
Mr. Parrish was born Dec. 5, 1938, in Mount Pleasant, to J.D. and Lorraine Parrish who preceded him in death. He was the oldest of three sons.
He was a longtime resident of Texas. He spent his early years in Daingerfield, where he enjoyed playing sports, outdoor activities, and socializing with his lifelong childhood friends. Jim graduated from the University of Texas and worked as a certified public accountant for many years in locations to include the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex; Waco; Columbus, Miss.; and Tuscaloosa, Ala.
