Weir Betty Dawn Perkison Weir, owner of Perkison Jewelry in Daingerfield, former president of the Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Daingerfield Economic Development Board, and respected retail merchant in the Daingerfield community, passed away peacefully in her home on March 25, in Daingerfield, at the age of 62 after a three-year battle with cancer. Born April 9, 1951, in Hope, Ark. to Truman Perkison and Muriel Kennedy Perkison, Betty Dawn graduated from Daingerfield High School and attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. Betty Dawn grew up working in her father’s jewelry store which has been in business in Daingerfield since 1953. Eventually, she purchased the business which has been the cornerstone of Daingerfield Main Street Commerce. She successfully ran her business, was nominated for numerous community awards and recognitions, and survived a previous battle with breast cancer; several of those years as a single mother.
