The Democrats learned nothing from this election

A Patriot's Opinion

By Jim Snyder

Well it seems that the democrat party has learned nothing from their loss in the November election. The American people spoke and told them that they were tired of the same old political cronyism and they wanted a change.

What do you muse about?

Boomer Musings

By J. Leslie Riseden

Well, here we are, dear readers, on the precipice of 2017. Whaaaat? Remember when we used to wonder how in the world we would even refer to a year that begins with “20?” How long did it take you to stop writing “19” in your date line without even thinking? Well, anyway, I’d like to add a new dimension to this column in 2017.

For almost a year now, I’ve shared with you my memories, musings and the thorns in my side. In the coming months, I’d like to hear from you, and share some of your thoughts.

What amazes you about the youth of today? What puzzles you? What really ticks you off? What’s changed since you were a kid, and what hasn’t really changed at all? Are your grandchildren from another planet, or do you actually get what they’re talking about? What do you think about the music, movies and television of the day?

Celebrating the Joys of Christmas

A Patriot's Opinion

By Jim Snyder

Well, here we are again, coming up on that special time of year when we gather with family and friends to celebrate the Christmas holiday. For many, this is a time when we get to see relatives and friends that we may only get to see once a year. It is also a time to enjoy all of the beautiful Christmas lights that many home and business owners invest lots of time and effort to put up. Many of our radio stations play Christmas carols and Christmas songs that get us in the Christmas spirit (yes, even the annoying ones). It’s just a magical time of the year for young and old alike. Decorating the tree, wrapping presents, and of course enjoying the many traditional Christmas dishes and desserts that we love (especially the desserts).

The true meaning of Chrismas

From My Perspective

By Toni Walker

Editor

Christmas means different things to different people. To some, it is all about family. Others see it as all about the gifts. Some see it no different than any other day.

Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of the year. I love everything about Christmas, from the lights and decorations, to the presents under the tree. Since I have had children, it has become harder to focus on what Christmas is all about. I mean, my kids can tell you the story of Jesus, and we try to stress the truth. But just because it is difficult to remember, the truth is out there, and it needs to be told. Here is the truth.

My Christmas Wish

Boomer Musings

By J. Leslie Riseden

When I was a child, the responsibility for decorating our home for the holidays fell mostly on my mother’s shoulders -- as it did in most homes, I suspect. After all, my father worked all day, and my mother was in charge of all things domestic. Unless it required tools, upper body strength, or the eviction of an uninvited guest ... be it of an eight-, four- or two-legged species.

The Illegal Immigration Debate is heating up again

By Jim Snyder

Contributing Columnist

Well, after 8 years of basically having no immigration policy whatsoever to speak of, the debate over what to do about the illegal immigration problem in this country is back on the front burner. Completely ignoring the problem as the current president has done has made the problem worse. There are an estimated 12 to 15 million illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. and the daily influx of 1,500 to 2,000 more every day is adding to the problem. Two of Donald Trump’s major campaign promises were building the wall and giving border patrol agents the tools to stop the influx of illegal immigrants.
