Waiting for tomorrow

From My Perspective

For as long as I can remember, it seems there has always been something to wait for. As an adult, I am beginning to wonder if all the “waiting for something else” has become a downfall of our society.

Even as young children, we are waiting. Waiting to go to school. Waiting for our next birthday. Waiting for Christmas. We wait for summer vacation, and whatever plans we have to get away from home for a little bit. Then, we wait to be a teenager, to be a part of the youth group because they get to do the fun stuff.

Once we become teenagers, we still can’t wait. We can’t wait to get our driver’s license, to go on a date, to go to prom, to graduate high school. What we are waiting for, or can’t wait for, changes, but the result is always the same. We keep missing the todays, looking for the things yet to come.

The disconnect between Liberals and Guns

Following the horrific tragedy in Orlando Florida, liberals (i.e. democrats) once again chose to blame guns for the attack.

Let the Games begin

Boomer Musings

As the national political conventions roll out, I got to thinking about the fierce competition that will undoubtedly pervade the airwaves for the next three-and-a-half months. After all, humans are, by nature, competitive. We have had to compete since we arrived on the planet, I guess...for the safest cave, the sharpest stone, or the biggest animal. Competition was a question of survival, so the impetus of competition was honorable -- noble, even. Humans had to provide food, clothing and shelter for themselves and those who depended on them. If they were not good at hunting and gathering, they and their clan might not make it. There were many obstacles to overcome, not the least of which was other hunters and gatherers.

A Patriot's Opinion: Police, Guns, and People: Let's Talk

Oh my I don’t know where to start. The incidents of the last few weeks involving law enforcement encounters with the public have gotten a lot of national attention. Two individuals were killed during these encounters. And the resulting violence ended with the killing of the 5 police officers and the wounding of 9 others in Dallas Texas. Those officers had nothing to do with the two incidents in Minnesota and Louisiana yet they paid the ultimate price. The five officers that were killed were there protecting the protesters. Encounters with law enforcement should be a simple process but somehow that doesn’t always happen. So let’s discuss what should happen when we are pulled over by the police.

From My Perspective- We sure could use a little good news today

It seems like every time I turn around, there is another news story of someone getting killed, either for beliefs, the color of their skin, or the uniform they wear. And you know what I think? I think it is ridiculous. From my perspective, all the hatred in the world today is absolutely absurd!

It’s time for the apology tours to end

A Patriot's Opinion

By Jim Snyder

Why is it that this president seems to hate this country so much that he constantly thinks he has to apologize for our actions? The past 8 years have been one giant apology tour. Everywhere he goes, he has this uncontrolled urge to tell other countries how bad he thinks we have been.

American exceptionalism is somehow a negative thing in his mind. There were concerns recently that during his visit to Japan, Mr. Obama would once again apologize, this time for the United States dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. While he didn’t utter the words many veterans and lawmakers said that the mere act of him going there was a veiled apology. When we dropped the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima, it was done to end a war that would have likely lasted another year or so. So in reality, dropping that bomb actually saved thousands of American lives. Of course, Mr. Obama doesn’t see it that way.

Vroom, Vroom!

Let’s get one thing out right up front. I am no classic car expert. What I say about cars in the following paragraphs is as I remember them, and is certainly subject to the fog in my brain that rolls in with 50- year-old memories. So, if you are a classic car nut, and I misstate some technical data, please forgive me.

When did we become the perfect judge?

From My Perspective

By Toni Walker

It seems like every time we turn around, there is another news report of a child who was injured or killed in some sort of odd, unexpected accident. First, the child fell into the gorilla cage, then a child was snatched by an alligator in Florida. Now, most recently, in our own little corner of the world, a baby fell into a lake and was unresponsive when the mother pulled him out.

We have got to take Islamic Terrorism seriously

A Patriot's Opinion

By Jim Snyder

In the wake of the Orlando Florida terror attack a few weeks ago, one thing is painfully clear; the United States is not taking this threat seriously.
