Calvin was born on
February 28, 1952 in
Longview to Travis and
Virgie Morris and died on
Wednesday, January 4,
2017 in Daingerfield.
He was a member of First
Baptist Church, Masonic
Lodge in Daingerfield and
Pipeliners Union 798.
Calvin was preceded in
death by his parents and
brother Dickie Morris.
Survived by his wife
Deborah “Debo” Morris of
Daingerfield; daughters
and sons-in-law,
Brandi and Brad

Hughes Springs mourns loss of proprietor Moore

Dewey Malone Moore
was born in a farm house
on the Moore family home
place, north of Mt. Vernon,
in Franklin County, Texas
on Oct. 20, 1929. The oldest
of three sons of Mary
Clifton and John Hoffman
Moore, he lived a full life of
87 years, mostly in east
Texas and departed this life
Monday, Jan. 2, at Good
Shepherd Hospital in
Longview. Dewey was preceded
in death by his parents,
a sister-in-law, Judy
Williams Moore, a grandson,
Jared Malone
Alsobrook and his youngest
brother John H.
“Johnny” Moore, Jr.
Dewey grew up on the
family farm north of
Mount Vernon and
attended the Mount
Vernon public schools
during the World War II
years. After the war, his
father, Hoffman acquired
the local Ford dealership
and moved the family “off
the farm and into town” in
Mount Vernon. Dewey

1945 in Marietta, and died

Home in Hughes Springs.
Remy was born Dec. 29,
2016 and lived a few short
hours. She was a beautiful
baby girl, who touched so
many lives in such a brief
time.

ROACH

Adeline Angeline Albiniak Roach, 80 of Glenwood, AR., died on Dec. 24. She was born Jan. 17, 1036.

Mrs. Roach was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Roach; her parents, John and Stella; her sister, Sonja Sue Minks; her brother, Benjamin (Sonny) Kinas; and a grandson.

She is survived by a son, Calvin Wayne; daughters Deborah Swain, Belinda Davidson, Sandra Kelch, and Amber Roach; a brother, John Albiniak; a sister, Evelyn Steinhart; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Glenwood, AR., on Jan. 21, followed by a family gathering at the home of her son. The memorial is under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home.

PAYNE

Funeral services for Coy Payne 83, of Lone Star were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at the Nail- Haggard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Monds officiating. Burial followed in the Weaver Cemetery.

Coy was born on March 11, 1933 in Hopkins Co. to Finis Marvin(F.M.) and Tennie Katherine Payne. He died on Thursday, Dec. 29, in Mount Pleasant. He was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Coy was preceded in death by his parents.

Survived by his wife Faye Payne of Lone Star, daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Mike Byrd of Daingerfield; sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy and Pawnee Payne of Texarkana, Jerry and Melissa Payne of Hawkins and James Payne of Daingerfield, grandchildren Mikey and wife Kristi Byrd, Teri Farmer, Jonathan and wife Shannon Payne, Kory and wife Brittney Payne, Kandi and husband Keith Greenlee, Jocelyn Holt and Dakota Payne.

WILSON

 Lena James Black Wilson was born on May 18th in DeKalb, Texas to Sperry Black and Lillie Garrett Black and passed away on Dec. 27, in Richardson. Lena grew up in Hughes Springs where she was an honor graduate at HSHS, class of 1946. For much of her adult life, Lena resided in the Pittsburg, Texas area.

For a few years, Lena lived in Phoenix, Arizona, and it was there that she fulfilled a life-long dream by obtaining a BA in Education, with honors, at Arizona State University. She returned to Pittsburg to teach nineteen years in the PISD. At PHS she taught History and English and later moved to the Pittsburg Middle School where she taught Texas History, and sponsored Jr. Historians, mentoring many students in competitions. Her love of Texas took her on a mission to tour virtually all the courthouses in Texas.

Myrtis Faye Surratt, 86, of Linden died Dec. 28. Ms. Surratt was born August 12, 1930 in Kildare. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30, in the Chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Burial will follow in the Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
