Lloyd Derrell Glover, 87, of Linden died Dec. 16. Mr. Glover was born Nov. 23, 1929 in Sulphur Bluff. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Centerhill, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Linden. An online guestbook may be signed at www.reederdavis. com.

Services for Carroll Phillips, 65 of Ore City, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Reeder- Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs. Burial followed in Turkey Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Phillips was born Feb. 15, 1951, and died Dec. 8.

Alice Marie Waller, 91, of Douglassville, died on Dec. 2. Ms. Waller was born Sept. 20, 1925 in Douglassville. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Reeder- Davis Funeral Home in Linden.

Services for Mr. Vivian Ennis Moore, 72, of Hughes Springs, were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial followed at Morning Star Cemetery in Naples under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Moore was born on Feb. 9, 1944, and died on Nov. 30. Services for Galeen Jernigan, 56, of Daingerfield, were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. Matthews House of Worship in Mount Pleasant. Burial followed at Blundis Creek Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Jernigan was born March 31, 1960 and passed away Dec. 1. Edith Merle Fitts, 85, of Linden died Dec. 4. Ms. Fitts was born April 1, 1931 in Almira. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the First Baptist Church in Linden with Bro. Jackie Stanfield officiating. Burial followed in the Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Viewing and visitation for John L. Carwile, Jr. 73, of Hughes Springs, was held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday evening, Dec. 8, at Reeder- Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a private graveside service at a later date. John was born Jan. 18, 1943 and died Dec. 3

Services for James Robert Walker, 91 of Daingerfield were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Daingerfield Church of Christ with Tim Gibbs officiating. Burial followed in the Daingerfield Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

Jim was born on Dec. 28, 1924 in Daingerfield to Willie Dee and Lillie Walker. He died on Nov. 30, in Pittsburg.

Jim was a member of the Church of Christ in Daingerfield. He served in the United States Army from Feb. 1943 until Feb. 1946. While in Germany, he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor.

After graduating from East Texas State University in 1949 he was employed at General Dynamics. He was then called back to service again in the Army in 1951 and 1952.

Jim was employed at the National Bank of Daingerfield for 30 years and was a former president. He took employment at Lone Star State Bank until he retired in 1986.

Services for Maxine Rhodes Pate, 90, of Longview were held in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel on Thursday, Dec.1, at 10 a.m. with Dr. Rick Webb officiating. Mrs. Pate passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, in Longview.

She graduated from Timpson High School in 1943 and worked as a bank teller. She married John Pate, the love of her life, and they were married for 63 years. During this time she was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper. She was active in the churches she attended. They lived in Center, Tulsa, OK., Daingerfield, and returned to Longview, when they retired. She was a member of Longview Missionary Baptist Church for several years.

Maxine loved crafts, sewing, decorating, baking and teaching others to do crafts. She also treasured time with her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She was known as “Gaggy” to them.
