Winnie Christine Basham

Basham
Services for Winnie Christine Basham, 85, of Longview, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Hughes Springs.
Mrs. Basham was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Bluitt, N.M., and died Oct. 29 in Longview.

Cockrill

Leland Virgle Cockrill of Hughes Springs died Oct. 22, at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Cockrill; his father, TJ Cockrill; sister, Betty Blair; and son, Lee Cockrill.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda Cockrill; his daughter and son-in-law, LuAnn and Bobby Moore; and his grandchildren, Kristen Zdonczyk and her husband, James, Garrett Cockrill, Tyler Moore, and Brittany Steen and her husband, Colt.

Conley

David Lee Conley, age 62, went home to be with our Lord on Oct. 23, after an eight-year battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully in his home in Hughes Springs, surrounded by loving family.
David was born on May 24, 1951, in DeWitt, Ark. to Ella Mae Conley, deceased, of Stuttgart, Ark., and Gene Conley, deceased, of Lonoke, Ark. On May 26, 1973, he married the love of his life, Hettie Marie Damon, whom he met at the First Assembly of God in Stuttgart. David and Hettie recently celebrated 40 years of marriage that were filled with trials and tribulation, as well as powerful love, extreme laughter and tremendous joy.

Hinton

Pearl Westene Hinton, better known as “Polly” died on Oct. 22, at her home in Avinger. Her valiant fight with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease), was done and she departed for her heavenly home surrounded by the loving care of her husband, Coy, her family and friends. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through the long struggle with her typical grace and joy.
Mrs. Hinton was born on July 25, 1934, in Charlotte, to Earl W. and Sylvia Blalock Abernathy. Known for her kind heart, beautiful smile, and devout faith, she and Coy shared over 60 years of marriage and raised three loving daughters, Norma, Cindy, and Ramona. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her gift of a peaceful disposition, shown through her constant smile, will never be forgotten.

Mayne

Services for Lewis “Mickey” Elwood Mayne, 93, were held  Oct. 28, at the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield. Interment was in the Daingerfield Cemetery.  
Mickey died at home having lived his life to the fullest for 93 years.
He was born March 21, 1920, in Cuero, to the late Henry and Irene Mayne.  
Mickey’s ancestors were among the first colonists to come into Texas with
Stephen F. Austin (known as the Old Three Hundred.  They settled in La Grange on the Colorado River in December of 1823.  Mickey spoke often with great pride of his family’s history and his membership in the Sons of the Republic of Texas.

Mr. Powell was born Jan. 31, 1949, in Mount Pleasant and died Oct. 21 in Tyler.

Robinson

Services for  Marshall André Robinson, 71, of Marietta, were held, Oct. 25 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples with Father Juan Sardinas officiating. Interment was in Our Lady of the Pines Cemetery in Daingerfield.     
Mr. Robinson was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and died Oct. 18 in San Jose, Calif. He was a security consultant for over 50 years, and the owner of Marshall Robinson and Associates Inc. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Daingerfield, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Robinson was a concealed handgun license instructor, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Texas State Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Robinson, in 2010; parents, Marshall L. Robinson and Elizabeth Tant Robinson; two brothers, Wayne Robinson and Michael Robinson; and three sisters, Dolores Spears, Sara Craft and Rachael Robinson.

Mr. Robinson was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Amarillo and died Oct. 23, in Tyler.

A memorial gathering will be held at the family home on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 4 p.m. for Gloria Jane Smithson, 66, of Ore City.
Mrs. Smithson was born Aug. 9, 1947, in Bellville and died Oct. 27 at a Longview hospital.

Services for James Allen Martin, 88, of Tullahoma, Tenn., will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 29, at Kilgore Funeral Home in Tullahoma. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born Dec. 19, 1924, and died Oct. 27, in Tullahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Martha Louise Martin; and his parents, James Alfred Martin and Estelle Camp Martin.
