Lady Mustangs place fourth in tournament

Lady Mustang volleyball played strong this past week, starting off the week with a commanding and convincing win against Maud in straight sets, 25-13, 25-10 and 25-16. Seniors Breanne Gun
and Destiny Gonzales were big throughout the contest, with Gunn leading the way with 10 kills. Gonzales contributed 12 assists on the night as well.

Mustangs show promise in pre-season scrimmage

The Mustang football team traveled to New Boston for the final tune up game before the regular season starts August 29th. In a contest that for the most part
was a controlled scrimmage, the Lions who are in Division I of Class 3A, seemed to initially run the ball well against the Mustangs who are part of the Division II of Class 3A.

State Champions

The Hughes Springs 14U All-Star baseball team captured the State championship title in the 14U Ranger Youth Baseball Junior Division on July 19. They competed in State tournament play in Longview with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss. This team also captured their District championship title in June. Members and coaches are, from left, top row, Coach Ron McKinney, Trace Camp, Harrison Reagan, Hunter Brabham, Riley McKinney, Garrett Golden and Coach James Reagan. Winners

Hughes Springs FFA All-Female Trap/Sporting Clays Team competed this summer for the first time at Ag Clays 381 State Shooting Meet. Team members, from left, are Kera Huggins, Kayloni Carroll and Kendal Sands. In Trap, the All-Female Team placed fourth. Carroll shot an 89 out of 100; Huggins shot 86 out of 100; and Sands shot a 68 out of 100. In Sporting Clays, the All-Female Team Placed fifth.
