Coach and players honored in District picks

Coach Curtis Lewis was chosen as Coach of the Year in District basketball picks. Keaton Key was the District’s Most Valuable Player and Calvin Bryant received Defensive Player of the Year.
Kenon Whetstone and Spencer Alexander were chosen for the All-District First Team. Eric Whetstone, Denzel Mms and Malik Higgins were chosen for the All-District Second Team.
Honorable Mention superlatives went to Jessie Biles, Lazarious Luster and Troy Stuard.

Lady Tigers capture first place win in Bill Hines Relays

The Daingerfield Lady Tiger Varsity Girls captured first place with 129 points when they participated in the Bill Hines Relays held March 6, at Jack Hetherington Tiger Stadium in Linden.
Placing in individual competition, were Adrianna Hill with first place in shot put, and Meme Black with second in discus.
Deandra Hanson placed first in long jump followed by Jettia Bradley with fourth place. In triple jump Kiana Hanson placed fourth with Tamerra Jackson following in sixth place. Deandra Hanson placed first in the high jump with Bradley placing fifth place.
Sarah Coleman won third place in pole vault with Sade Bunton placing sixth.  
In the 400-meter relay the team of Shan Johnson, Denver Mims, Chablis Barber and Bradley placed second. Chrishunda Boyd placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, while Barber placed first in the 100-meter dash.

Boys powerlifting

Daingerfield Tigers competed at Regionals in powerlifting in Elkhart on March 1. Kameron Younger, left, placed sixth in the 181 weight class lifting 1,210 pounds. Keithon Walker, super heavyweight, placed ninth by lifting 1,315 pounds. Willie Evans and Justin Taylor were alternates. The powerlifters are coached by Mike Mason, assisted by Coach Engra Patt-Mason.

Lady Tigers finish sixth at March 15 relay

The Daingerfield Lady Tigers Varsity captured sixth place in the Runnin’ Rabb Relays held March 15, in Atlanta. They competed against 3A-5A teams in this relay.
Deandra Hanson placed third in the 200-meeter dash, while Sade Bunton placed sixth in the 400-meter dash. Yesenia Bravo placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run.
The team of Shan Johnson, Denver Mims, Alexis Porter and Jettia Bradley placed sixth in the 400-meter relay. In the 800-meter relay, the team of Deandra Hanson, Mims, Porter and Bradley placed fourth.
The team of Deandra Hanson, Alexis Porter, Bradley and Sade Bunton placed first in the 1,600-meter relay.
Deandra Hanson placed second in the long jump and first in the high jump.

Lady Tigers place first overall at Eagle Relays

The Daingerfield Lady Tigers captured a first place win overall with 198 points at the Eagle Relays held March 21 at New Diana.
Deandra Hanson placed first in the high jump and Jettia Bradley placed second. In the long jump, Deandra Hanson placed first and Bradley placed second. In the triple jump, Tamerra Jackson placed fourth and Kiana Hanson placed sixth
In pole vault competition, Sarah Coleman placed second. Adrianna Hill captured first in shot put and Onyx Hines placed third.  Ty’Deija Kelley placed third in discus.
The team of Shan Johnson, Denver Mims, Chablis Barber, Bradley) placed first in the 400-meter relay. Nancy Rios placed second in the 800-meter run.
Shan Johnson won first place in the 100-meter hurdles, while Chablis Barber placed first in the 100-meter dash.
The team of Deandra Hanson, Denver Mims, Janzelle Smith, Bradley) placed first in the 800-meter relay.

Avinger coach, players are chosen in All-District pick selections

Avinger Coach Treston Dowell was chosen as Coach of the Year by the District 24-A All-District Coaches Basketball Selections. Several Avinger basketball players were also chosen.
Senior Jeremiaha Clark received the Most Valuable Player pick. Lake Loyd, a junior, received the Offensive Most Valuable Player pick, while Desmond Chism, a sophomore, received the Defensive Most Valuable Player pick.

Powerlifters take Regionals, off to State competition

Daingerfield Lady Tiger powerlifters fared so well at the Regional meet, they are headed for State competition.
At the Regional meet held at White Oak Feb. 27, Chablis Barber placed first with a weight lifted of 735 pounds. Adrianna Hill also placed first with a weight of 760 pounds.
TaChrissa Boyd placed second with a weight lifted of 840 pounds.
The Lady Tigers will compete at State competition March 14 in Corpus Christi. Head Coach for the Lady Tigerpowerlifters is Mike Mason, with Engra Patt-Mason as the assistant coach.
