NTCC women break streak against tough Navarro team

The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Women’s Eagles Soccer team split the week with a victory against Eastfield College and a narrow loss to a top-ranked (number two) Navarro College team this past week. McKenzia Goedicke kicked things off on Tuesday, scoring the first goal of the game on a penalty kick against Eastfield 36 minutes into the first half.

Hughes Springs Mustangs JV tops Waskom Wildcats 26-6

The Hughes Springs Mustangs junior varsity (JV) has started the year off at 3-0 with a 26-6 win over the Waskom Wildcats. The offensive attack was led by: Bo McEntire, who scored one touchdown and ran the ball hard all night. Dedrick Hill, who scored two touchdowns and had 125 yards on 6 carries.Ty Menefee had a 45 yard carry followed by a screen pass to Riley McKinney from Alex Bruce. This set up the second touchdown by Dedrick Hill and Dre Purifoy added a 2-point conversion.

Bluegill Family Fishing Tournament at Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center is planned

The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center’s annual Bluegill Family Fishing Tournament will take place on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Mustangs lose a close one

Rain, sweat, blood and probably some tears. All four were experienced last Friday when the Arp Tigers brought their high-powered offense and state ranked team to Hughes Springs. When the sweat was wiped clear and the rain stopped, Hughes Springs came close to pulling away with a win, but came out just two points shy with a 16-14 loss.
