October 20 Soup and Salad Lunch

The Twentieth Century Club will be hosting their annual Soup and Salad Lunch Thursday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Daingerfield’s First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

October 21 Chili Supper

The Hughes Springs Masonic Lodge #671 will be serving chili before the Hughes Springs Homecoming game on Oct. 21, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person, and proceeds will benefit local HSISD scholarships and other Masonic Charities. The dinner will be at next to the Cafeteria at Mustang Stadium.

October 22 Fall Festival

Veal Switch Baptist Church in Hughes Springs invites everyone to their Fall Festival on Oct. 22. The event will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Come join in the fun and games.

October 15 Chicken Spaghetti Lunch

The Rocky Branch Fire Department will be having a Chicken Spaghetti Lunch on Oct. 15. They will begin serving at 11 a.m., and carry-outs will be available. For more information, contact Tony Thigpen at 903-897- 5173.

October 15 Haunted Mansion Ball

The Community Theatre of East Texas will be hosting a Haunted Mansion Ball at the Theatre on First Street in Hughes Springs. There will be a costume contest, live entertainment, food, and fun. See the Community Theatre of East Texas’ Facebook page for more information. No clown costumes, please!

October 18, 25 Preschool Story Time

Preschool story time continues at the Hughes Springs Area Public Library, and happens every Tuesday morning at 10:15 a.m. This FREE story time lasts about 45 minutes, and is open to all preschoolers age 3 and older.

October 6

The annual Community Stew and Style Show will be held at 6 p.m. at the Methodist Activity Center in Daingerfield. The event is sponsored by the Daingerfield Business & Professional Women’s Club, and benefits local high senior girls through scholarships.

October 8 Spaghetti Lunch

Come have lunch with us during Treasure Trails. Avinger United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Spaghetti lunch with salad, bread sticks, dessert and tea for $8.00.

October 8 Treasure Trails

Avinger invites you to come browse at Treasure Trails. 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Main Street in Avinger. Come early if you want to set up a table of your own, or contact CRESS to donate items. 903-562-2256.

October 1 Emmaus Walk

The annual Emmaus Walk will be held on Oct. 1 at Daingerfield State Park. The event will be from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. All money raised will benefit the Christian Service Center. For more information, call 903-645- 5510.

October 2 150th Church Anniversary

Shady Grove Christian Church of Cason will celebrate their 150th anniversary on Oct. 2. Pastor Dwight E. Golf Tournament

Glow Run 5K

Distinguished Alumni Banquet

The Annual Daingerfield Distinguished Alumni Banquet will be held on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Daingerfield High School Cafeteria. The Senior Citizen’s Center will host Bingo on the first Saturday of each month, starting Sept. 3. It will be held at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Daingerfield from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

September 6, 13, 20, 27 Preschool Story Time

September 10 Day of Wellness

The Woman’s Auxiliary of Northeast Texas District will host a “Day of Wellness” on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Douglass Alumni Gym. The gym is located at 408 Terry Street in Pittsburg. Activities will begin at 9 a.m. and last throughout the morning. There is no cost for the event, and snacks, handouts, and freebies will be available. August 25 Pancake Supper

The Daingerfield/Hughes Springs Lions Club will serve a Pancake Supper on Thursday August 25 before the Daingerfield-Hughes Springs Football Game. Serving time will be from 5 until 7 PM at South Elementary Cafeteria, located in front of the football stadium. Take outs will be available. Tickets are available from Lions Club Members, and can be purchased at the door. Contact Glenn Weiss at 903-645-3782 for more information.

August 28 Worship Service

Wallick Chapel Christian Church invites everyone to join them for Worship on Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Minister Sam McCoy.

Tex-Ark Audubon Society will host speaker Dr. Hank Hayes, Region 4 Director of Texas Animal Health Commission (Mt. Pleasant office). The meeting is August 18 at Texarkana College, 2500 N. Robison Rd., Texarkana, TX. 75501 at Humanities Bldg., room 206 at 7 p.m. Refreshments at 6:30 p.m. He is a veterinarian trained at Texas A&M. Junior and Senior football players for Daingerfield High School can come check out equipment between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the field house.

July 28 Fun with Tex and Dot

The Texas Department of Transportation will teach children vehicle safety with a program entitled Fun with Tex and Dot, at the Morris County Annex, beginning at 10 a.m.

July 28 Hughes Springs Fire Department

The Hughes Springs Fire Department will be at the Hughes Springs Area Library, teaching children about fire safety. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. Come ready to get wet!
