May 14 Church Rummage Sale

The Avinger United Methodist Church will have a rummage sale on May 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to donate to the sale, contact Becky Powell at 903-452-0871.

May 14 Community Theatre Auditions

CTET will be holding Auditions for “Don’t Stop Believin” May 14, 2016 at the Hughes Springs Auditorium. Auditions will begin at 11:00am and should last until 3:00pm. (Everyone is to be there before 11:00 am and all auditions will begin at 11:00. There will not be time slots per person.) Please be prepared to sing a vocal piece from this musical. April 16 Wildflower Trails 5k Run and Walk

The 26 Annual Wildflower Trails 5K will be held on April 16. Registration will be from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m., and the race will begin at 8:30 a.m. The event will begin at the City Park Pavilion, located beside City Hall. Registration forms can be picked up at City Hall, or online at www.hughesspringstxusa.com. For more information, call 903-639-7519.

April 16 Hymn Fest

The Daingerfield Church of Christ will once again present Hymn Fest on April 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This will be a time of old-fashioned congregational singing with experienced song leaders. There will refreshments served at the conclusion of the singing.

April 7 Zumba Classes

Zumba classes will be held every first Thursday in the month at 7:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church. The church is located at 4410 CR 4950, in Cason. Cost is $5.00.

April 10 Made By Mercy Concert

First Baptist Church in Cason invites the public to a service of praise with the upcoming southern gospel group, Made By Mercy. The concert will be at 7 p.m. on April 10, at First Baptist Church, Cason.

April 10 Library Fundraiser

First Baptist Church will host a fundraiser for the Hughes Springs Library on April 10, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. The meal will consists of Gumbo and other soups. The event will be held in the CLC of First Baptist Church, and all proceeds will go to the Hughes Springs Library.

Daingerfield FFA will be having the annual plant sales on the following dates and locations: Thursday March 24, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the greenhouse, Friday April 1, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the greenhouse, and on Saturday April 2, from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in front of the high school.

April 2-5 Revival

There will be a revival in Avinger April 3-5 at 7 p.m. nightly. Saturday and Sunday will be held at Avinger United Methodist Church, and Monday and Tuesday will be at Harris Chapel United Methodist Church. The evangelist will be Mike L. Proctor, of Marshall, Arkansas. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments following the services.

March 23-26 Steel Magnolias

The Community Theatre of East Texas will be performing Steel Magnolias nightly from March 23 -26. The performances will be held at the Hughes Springs High School Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. nightly. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at Med-Shoppe, Hughes Springs City Hall, and will also be available at the door.

March 16, 18, and 19 Art and Photography Show

The Third Annual Art and Photography Show, presented by the Legacy, an Event Center, will be held in March. Art delivery and registration will be Wednesday, March 16, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibit will then be March 18 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and March 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Awards will be presented at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. March 15, 16, and 17 Youth and Young Adult Revival

Shady Grove Baptist Church, in Cason, will host a Youth and Young Adult Revival on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, March 15, 16, and 17. Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. each night. The speaker will be Pastor Kevin Anthony of Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Longview. The church is located at 4410 CR 4950 in Cason.

March 26 Easter Egg Hunt

The Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt at Daingerfield State Park beginning at 10 a.m.

Upcoming Evens and Happenings

March 7-13 Ministerial Alliance Revival The Ministerial Alliance will host a Revival March 7 through the 13, with a different minister and music leader each night. March 7 through 12, services will be held at 7 p.m. Services on March 13 will be held at 6 p.m. All services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 1009 Broadnax, in Daingerfield.

March 12 Riding for the King concert Life Church in Daingerfield is sponsoring the Riding for the King Tour. This will be a free concert at the Daingerfield City Park and will begin at noon. There will be free food and door prizes, as well as entertainment from Exalt, Jermaine Jackson, Brittannee, Se7en, and Mary Satcherwhite.

March 12 Fish Fry The Jenkins Volunteer Fire Department will host a Fish Fry on Saturday, March 12. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

March 5 The Spring Gardening Seminar, hosted by the Gregg County Master Gardeners, will be held on Saturday, March 5, from 7:30 a.m. until noon at the First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Fredonia Street, Longview. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. The speakers will be Kent Ormsby and Greg Grant. For tickets and information call the Gregg County AgriLife Extension Office at 903-236-8429.

March 6 Harvest America simulcast First Baptist Church in Daingerfield will be hosting a simulcast of Harvest America, with Greg Laurie, on March 6. This is a free event that will begin at 6 p.m., streamed live from AT&T Stadium. The public is invited. Contact First Baptist Church for more information at 903-645-2269.

February 27 Chamber Banquet The Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce will host their annual Awards Banquet on Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. There will be a Patriotic theme, and the event will be held at the Daingerfield High School cafeteria. Tickets will be available at the Chamber office, the North East Texas Credit Union, or any chamber director.
