Payoff of certificates of obligation; Wal-Mart Express discussed at council meeting

Early payoff on a certificate obligation for the city of Daingerfield was tabled for further discussion at the July 14 meeting of the Daingerfield City Council.
 
Councilwoman Laura Mabey said an early payoff of certificates of obligation, Series 2005, would result in an interest savings of $317,130. This is a certificate of obligations that was done for the fire station and roads. The payoff would be approximately $1,095,200.

Two-Alarm Fire

Daingerfield Volunteer Fire Department, along with Cason Volunteer Fire Department, battled a structure fire on Sunday about noon at 585 County Road 1147 west of Daingerfield. Fire fighter Gatlin Moore holds the hose as more water was pumped into the embers. The structure was a total loss, as was a vehicle parked nearby. The home was occupied by Andrew Porter; however, no one was home at the time of the fire.

Daingerfield grad makes Dean’s list

DeAndrea Doddy of Daingerfield has been placed on the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester.
 
Miss Doddy is studying dental hygiene at the Texas Women’s University at Denton.
 
Undergraduate students who complete at least 12 graded credit hours and achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.5 are eligible for the dean’s list.
