Cass County Jail officials report the following individuals were booked into the Cass County Jail June 15-30.
 
- Jason Kirk Aelxander, 41, of Shelbyville,  theft of property greater than or equal to $1,500 but less than $20,000.
 
- Tonya Marie Alexander, 25, of Atlanta, served a three-day jail sanction.
 
- Antonio Jesus Avalos, 26, of Stockston, Calif., failure to maintain financial responsibility. 
 
- Joshua Vincent Birge, 28, of Atlanta, public intoxication.

Event center grand opening announces proceeds to benefit Hope Ministries

The Landing Event Services announces its grand opening to host private and corporate community events to benefit the local non-profit organization, Hope Ministries of Northeast Texas. The Landing is a newly renovated 5,000 square foot facility equipped to host weddings, receptions, special events, business meetings, birthday celebrations and family reunions.

Computers in Music Award

Daughton Singletary, band student at Hughes Springs High School, received the Computers in Music Award from Tamey Anglley, director of the Ninth Grade Symphonic Band at the 2014 Stephen F. Austin State University Band Camp in Nacogdoches. Awards were presented at the conclusion of the June camp.
