Arbor Day Foundation Offers Tree-Care Booklet

The Arbor Day Foundation is offering a handy tree-care booklet designed to help people plant and care for trees.
 
Anyone can receive Conservation Trees, a user-friendly booklet featuring illustrations, colorful photos and easily-understood descriptions, by making a donation to the Foundation this month.

Titus Regional Medical Center hires new CEO

The Board of Managers of Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) has approved the hiring of John Allen as the new chief executive officer. A healthcare executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience in healthcare, operational management, technology and workforce engineering, Mr. Allen will assume his new duties at TRMC on Aug. 18. TRMC conducted a nationwide executive search led by healthcare leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith.

Online driver license services, mega centers available this summer

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is encouraging residents to beat the summer rush at driver license offices across the state by renewing their license or identification card early or online. The summer months are typically one of the busiest times of year at driver license offices, and many eligible Texans can skip the trip to the office completely via online renewal of their license, identification card or change of address at Texas.gov.

Helping Others

Richard Perryman, left, presented a $3,000 check to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, vice president for advancement at Northeast Texas Community College. The funds will be used to underwrite the NTCC Foundation Annual Scholarship Reception. The reception is held on the NTCC campus each fall and allows scholarship recipients to meet the donors who made their award possible. In addition to helping NTCC with scholarships themselves, Richard and Margaret Perryman have been underwriting the Scholarship Reception for more than 10 years. Library speaker

Native Texan, former teacher, award-winning storyteller musician, and author/poet, Tom Taylor spoke at the Hughes Springs Area Public Library. Mr. Taylor’s interactive programs, which can be tailored to the individual venue, generally include original tales, tall tales, folk tales, peace tales, poetry, and music. Officially graduated

Pausing a moment for picture taking time after they graduated from Hughes Springs High School were 2014 graduates Kera Huggins and Hunter Bain. The Class of 2014 received their diplomas in ceremonies held at Mustang Stadium in Hughes Springs on May 30.
