Supporting the College

Charlie and Helen Hampton recently gave $1,000 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. The gift will sponsor a student in the college’s new Work Scholarship Program. Kalvin Ray Taylor, 54, Jefferson, 30 days county jail for theft of services by check, revoked.
 
Cory Alan Urbina, 23, Hughes Springs, 30 days county jail and pay $477 in court costs for driving while intoxicated.

U.S. Steel to idle two tubular facilities in Pennsylvania and Texas

United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) announced June 2, that it will indefinitely idle two tubular manufacturing facilities in McKeesport, Pa., and Bellville, Texas, in early August, impacting approximately 260 employees as a result of business conditions which are influenced by unfairly traded tubular products imported into the United States.

Overton Horticultural Field Day scheduled; vegetable trials added

For the first time since 2009, the 2014 Overton Horticultural Field Day will include vegetable trials in addition to the hundreds of bedding plant trials that are the standard fare, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Research experts.
