The public comment session was busy again at the May 20 meeting of the Hughes Springs City Council as citizens again questioned the reasoning of bringing in a low income housing that would be located in close proximity to their residences. Ronnie Davis signed up to speak.
Three arrests were made and one suspect is still at large after an early morning robbery May 13 involving suspects with firearms, according to Morris County Sheriff Jack Martin.
The 76th Judicial District Court of Texas on Jan. 7 ruled that in 1905, Morris County, did adopt a stock law prohibiting all horses, mules, jacks, jennets and cattle from running at large in Morris County.
Morris County Sheriff Jack Martin hosted a day of training on May 15 for area law enforcement personnel. Officers from several agencies within Morris County were presented with useful information on various topics, which should result in better police reports, stronger criminal cases, and lead to more criminal convictions.
For the fourth year in a row, Derick Sibley, business manager at Hughes Springs Independent School District, has received the comptroller’s highest award. The designation is the comptroller’s newest and highest honor for financial transparency. The new distinction requires governmental entities go above and beyond providing financial transparency.
In an effort to make water flow easily through pipeline, the board of trustees of the Northeast Texas Municipal Water District authorized change order #2 for the ground storage tank in Daingerfield.
General Manager Walt Sears said the change order is to increase the communication of the delivery points along the Daingerfield-Lone Star pipeline.
