The Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association honored four Daingerfield student athletic trainers with the Academic All-State Award. The recipients, from left, are Reyna Soto, Peyton Watkins, Adrianna Hill and Sam Fowler. The award was given based on the students’ grades for their entire high school career. The students are coached by Derek Reed, athletic trainer.

Daingerfield Public Works Department men repair the pedestrian crossing sign on the round-a-bout in downtown Daingerfield this past week. Workers are, James DuBois, left, and Brent Sheets. A library sign was also posted on the round-a-bout to aid citizens where to turn off to go to the library.

Longview WOW fund-raiser

Longview World of Wonders invites East Texans to “Jump for WOW” on June 26, in a special fund-raiser supporting efforts to open a hands-on children’s discovery center in downtown Longview.
 
Jump for WOW is from 6 -7:30 p.m. June 26 at Pump It Up, 4000 Highway 259 in Longview. Children must be at least 34 inches tall to play. Cost is $9 per child. Pump It Up will donate a portion of the night’s proceeds to LongviewWOW.

Ouch

Storms raced through the area in the evening hours on Monday, May 12, causing power outages, flooding and tree damage. Vickie Nixon arrived at her business, Kissin’ Kousins at 502 Broadnax in Daingerfield on Tuesday morning to find this tree covering the storage shed and the back of the restaurant. An electric pole also took a hit by the tree.

The Daingerfield City Council passed an ordinance granting exclusivity to Champion Emergency Medical Services for the ambulance service area of the city of Daingerfield. The council made this decision at its May 12 council meeting.
