Wilkerson will be in Daingerfield checking deer

Penny Wilkerson, wildlife biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, will be collecting age, weight and antler (AWA) data from all white-tailed deer. She will be at Bailey’s Hardware south of Daingerfield on Nov. 29, starting at 8:30 a.m. She will be aging and weighing field dressed buck and doe deer and taking measurements from all antlered bucks. Given hunter permission, selected mature deer from Morris County will also be sampled for chronic wasting disease.
TPWD biologists have been collecting data for more than 30 years all across the state. However, Morris county data is lacking and this check station is designed to capture as much data as possible for Morris County.
For further information, contact Ms. Wilkerson at 903-796-7526, 903-799-8026 or email penny.wilkerson@tpwd.texas.gov
