Trammell’s Trace DAR undertakes project

By Robin Aaron
raaron@casscountynow.com
“He told us about the suicide rocks, about watching women and children jump to their deaths,” Frances Whatley said, “because they had been lied to about the American soldiers. And he wept.”
The Trammell’s Trace Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have begun a project that could take up to two years to complete, but as they say, time is of the essence.
World War II Veterans are dying quickly – at the rate of just over 600 a day, according to recent US Veterans Administration figures.
Honoring the 20th-century veterans’ sacrifice before they pass from the scene, is at the heart of the ambitious undertaking that Trammell’s Trace DAR has begun.
