Winter storm shuts down the Steel Country area

by TONI WALKER

DAINGERFIELD – Mother Nature showed her cold side, channeling her inner “Elsa” last week as a winter storm hit the Steel Country Bee area late in the evening of Jan. 15.

By the early morning hours, the wintery mix had turn to snow which blanketed the area in a powdery coating. Temperatures in Daingerfield missed breaking the record low for January, which was set in 1962 ( four degrees), but still were well below the average low for the date (33 degrees). The record low for the date of 17 degrees was set in 1972.
