John Gardner Herring, 84, of Linden, died Sept 25. Mr. Herring was born June 27, 1933 in Overton. Services were held Sept. 28 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden with Jeff McCullough officiating. Burial followed in the Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder- Davis Funeral Home in Linden.

Alpha C. Dannelley

HUGHES SPRINGS -- Services for Alpha C. Dannelley, 91, of Hughes Springs were held Sept. 23 at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed at Cornett Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mrs. Dannelley was born Nov. 21, 1925 in Clarksville and died Sept. 20. She was preceded in death by her husband, William K. Dannelley; and son, Kenneth Dannelley. She was the last remaining child of Daniel Marion and Lula Mae Thomason. She worked many years for Hughes Springs Independent School District. She is survived by her son, Alvin Dannelley and wife, Donna of Hughes Springs; daughters, Judy Kennedy and husband, Charles of Daingerfield, Sybil Grace and husband, Larry of Waskom; daughter-in-law, Brenda Dannelley of Marietta; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gladys Barrington; and quite a few nieces and nephews.

Alice K. Shaddix

HUGHES SPRINGS -- Services for Alice K. Shaddix, 92, of Hughes Springs, were held Sept. 24 at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed at Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Alice Katherine Jeardoe Shaddix went to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior on Sept. 20. She was born May 16, 1925 to Albert & Laura Jeardoe, in Norway, Republic County, Kansas. Shaddix had four siblings: Hazel Rodgers, Edward Jeardoe, Edith Moxham and Dorothy Novak. She and her husband raised six kids: James Shaddix, David (Sue) Shaddix, Linda (Bobby) McDaniel, Carol (Lee Roy) Bickham, Annette (Tommy) Burson, and Mary (Larry) Trevino. Then they added the next generation of 18 Grandchildren; and 13 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Bessie Cason

WINNSBORO -- Bessie Justiss Cason was born at the cotton gin at Snow Hill on Feb. 7, 1915. She graduated in the class of 1934 and was the oldest living alumni of Dangerfield High School. She attended Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University) in Abilene. She married Olin Eugene Cason on Nov. 17, 1946, and they lived their entire married life in Dangerfield and Atlanta. She loved being a homemaker and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Her favorite place on this earth was the family cabin on Caddo Lake. She and her extended family spent many joyful vacations there. After his retirement, she and Eugene traveled extensively with her siblings and friends in their RVs. Bessie passed from this life on Monday, Sept. 11, at the age of 102. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Willie Justiss; her husband, Eugene; and her 11 brothers and sisters.

Mary K. Lester Easterling

DAINGERFIELD -- Services for Mary K. Lester Easterling, 88 of Daingerfield, formerly of Jefferson were held Sept. 6 at the First Baptist Church in Daingerfield with her brother, Pastor Dick Knox and Bro. Danny Broughton officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Jefferson. Arrangements were under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

She was born of July 25, 1929 in LaRue, Tx. and died on Sunday, Sept. 3 in Daingerfield.

Mary K. was a resident of Jefferson where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She then lived in Daingerfield where she was a member of First Baptist Church. Mary K. was a member of the Eastern Star of Jefferson Chapter #627. She was employed by ASCS office for 35 years and served on the Oakwood Cemetery Board in Jefferson for many years where she will be laid to rest.

Mary K. was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, George Lester, Sr. and J. B. Easterling, daughter Kathryn Sue Lester and 2 brothers.

Survived by her daughter Marsha Henson of White Oak; son George Lester, Jr. and wife Jan of Daingerfield; sister Doris Sanders of Pflugerville; brother Dick Knox of Mounds, Ok.; step daughter Nancy Brown of Willow Park and step son John Easterling III of Denton; 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
