Services for Cynthia Louise Birdsong, 51 of Linden, were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 22 at the Bear Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Mrs. Birdsong was born Feb. 16, 1965, and died July 19.

Nita Ervin Rosett, 99, of Richmond, was born Oct. 15, 1916 and died on July 19.

She is survived by son-in-l aw, Roger Coughran, husband of Sandra of Richmond, James & Jan Rosett of Shreveport, Teri & David Terrell of Catoosa, OK, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Harris Chapel Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Services for Doris Floyd, 93, of Daingerfield, were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Veal Switch Baptist Church. Bro. Mark Young officiated and burial followed at Veal Switch Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Ms. Floyd was born Sept. 21, 1922 and died July 14. She was a charter member of the Veal Switch Baptist Church and a deacon’s wife for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Floyd; and sister, Alta Wellborn.

She is survived by her daughter, Grace Ann Childree and husband, Ronny; three grandchildren, Gregg Childree, Jerry Childree, and Terry Maiale; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister, Marcell Jones.

Memorial services for Larry James Obenoskey, of Hughes Springs, were held on July 18 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Bates Family Funeral Home in Linden. Mr. Obenoskey was Dec. 11, 1952, and died July 14 at his residence.

Services for Mr. Lonnie Luckey, 91, of Cason, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15.at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Services for James Norman Higginbotham, 86 of Daingerfield were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Nail-Haggard Funeral home Chapel with Bro. James Edward Higginbotham officiating. Burial followed in the Daingerfield Cemetery. James was born on Nov. 29, 1929 in Upshur County to William Virgil and Annie Belle Higginbotham and died on Monday, July 11, in Winnsboro. Services for Marion Leslie (M.L.) Alexander, 89 of Daingerfield were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at the First Baptist Church with Bro. Don Ross officiating. Burial followed in the Daingerfield Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.
M. L. was born on July 24, 1927 in Winters, Texas to Samuel Leslie and Laura Allen Alexander. He died on Monday, July 11, in Daingerfield.
M. L. served in the United States Navy in WWII and was in the harbor after the bombing of Hiroshima. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended Hardin Simmons University until his father became ill and he went to help with a family business. While on vacation from a job at Haliburton, he started working at Lone Star Steel in 1953 where he retired in 1986 after 331/2 years. After a few years of retirement, Mr. Alexander was hired at the Daingerfield Housing Authority as maintenance director.

A memorial service for Nazaree Hunter was held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 at the Traylor High School Community Center. Mr. Hunter was born in Hope, Arkansas on Oct. 3, 1929, and died July 7.

Services for Margaret Anne Davis, 67 of Hughes Springs, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Daingerfield. Burial followed at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Davis was born October 15, 1948, and died June 24.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Whetstone, age 50 of Naples, were held on Friday, July 8 at 12 p.m. at Restoration Family Worship Center. Burial followed in Morning Star Cemetery in Naples, under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company, in Tyler. Ms. Whetstone was born Nov. 8, 1965, and died June 29.
