BYRD

Graveside services for Chester Byrd, 83 of Lone Star will be 10 A.M. Friday, July 1, at Our Lady of The Pines Cemetery in Daingerfield with Kenny Shaver officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

Chester was born on April 19, 1933 in Morris County to Alvin Thomas and Esther Byrd and died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Little Rock, Ark. He was a veteran of the U S Army and retired from T & N Warehouse.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia Byrd, brothers James Byrd and John Byrd, sisters Joyce Byrd and Bonnie Jones. Survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and Gene Dudley of Little Rock, Cindy and Evan Lewis of Little Rock; son Thomas Vilches of Little Rock; grandchildren, Phillip Aaron Lafferty, Benjamin Lumpkin and Kaitlyn Lewis; brothers Lester Byrd of Daingerfield, Dois Byrd of Daingerfield, Loarn Byrd of Daingerfield and Willie Byrd of Lone Star; sister Edith Sexton of Lone Star.

GEE

Doug “Pee Wee” Gee was born Dec. 2, 1949 and passed away June 28. This amazing man, who was loved by so many, was a simple, honest and loving man who loved his family more than anything. He prayed for peace and comfort for all. Now he rests in peace forever.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Wanda Gee; and sister, Jeanie McDonald. He is survived by his wife, Anita Gee; four children, Angie Arteberry and her husband, Michael, Andy Gee, Chad Cooper and his wife, Elise, and Cody Cooper; seven grandchildren, Amanda Jones, Miranda Loewen, Cassandra Vestal, Avery Cooper, Caden Cooper, Matt Arteberry, and Amanda Arteberry; five great-grandchildren, Dallas Jones, Savannah Jones, Rance Jones, Holden Lowen, Greyson Loewen; sister, Gwen Chambliss; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

MARTIN

 Services for Billy Pat “Bill” Martin 89 of Daingerfield will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, July 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Daingerfield with Brother Dan Gilliam officiating. Burial will be at the Daingerfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

Bill passed from this world into heaven at his son’s home in Texarkana, Texas, on July 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sulphur Bluff, Texas, on June 22, 1927. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army toward the end of World War II. He retired from Lone Star Steel Company. He worked as co-owner of Martin’s General Merchandise, Martin’s Auto Parts, and Martin’s Tax and Bookkeeping Service of Daingerfield. He finally retired at the young age of 87.

Bill met the love of his life Betty Lynn Dalby and on July 10, 1953 and they became the first couple married in the new sanctuary of the First Methodist Church of Daingerfield.

Burial followed at Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Haywood was born Feb. 10, 1940 in Valdosta, GA and died Saturday, June 25, in Daingerfield.
