Letter to the Editor: Resident proud of community

Dear Editor:
In today’s society we turn on the television, read the newspaper, and follow Internet sites and find all we ever wanted to know about what’s wrong with the world.  Negativity is a staple in society and is portrayed every day.
However, I would like to take this opportunity to brag on my community and express “What is right with our community.”
Nestled here in the Piney Woods of East Texas lies a community that is proactive in making their town a better place to live and raise a family.  Since coming home, I have been amazed at the approach our town and community strive to make Hughes Springs a better place to live.

Music City Texas Theater presents Brandon Rhyder Nov. 2

Brandon Rhyder has established himself as a fixture in the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene. The debut single, “Haggard,” from the Carthage native’s new album “That’s just Me,” scored the No. 1 position on the Texas Regional Radio Report in May, marking his fourth No. 1 single on Texas radio to date. “Pray The Night,” co-written with fellow Texan Wade Bowen, is currently climbing the charts.
Recorded in Dripping Springs, Mr. Rhyder’s eighth release is the first he has self-produced. “If you don’t recreate yourself you can get left behind,” Rhyder said, and credits the national recognition surrounding “That’s Just Me” to its honest, pure qualities.

Donald Wayne Adams Jr.

By Marlene J. Bohr mbohr@steelcountrybee.com Donald Wayne Adams Jr., 53, of Daingerfield, was arrested Oct. 24 and charged with making a false alarm/report, according to Daingerfield Police Chief Tracey Climer. “At 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, we received a complaint of a possible shooting/homicide from a third party," Chief Climer said. "In the report, someone at 917 Carpenter St. had contacted a third party telling them that he had just shot someone and there was a lot of blood. He needed to know how to clean it up. When the third party confronted the subject about calling law enforcement, the phone conversation ended. We received no response. “Several attempts were made to communicate with the person of interest; however, no contact was made.
