Head Start in Hughes Springs has recently added a new addition, one that had all the students anxious get head outside.

Child abuse is a problem that is prevalent everywhere. People tend to have a “small town” mentality that it cannot happen around them, especially not to someone they know.
April has been designated as National Child Abuse Prevention month, and local agencies have put together activities to raise awareness and help stop the pattern of abuse. According to CASA training coordinator Rita Floyd, 133 children were placed in foster care last year. In life, there are some things we expect. We expect to get paid for work done. We expect to receive a ticket when we are stopped by law enforcement. It is in that position that the Allen family found themselves in September of 2013. Their son, Tanner, was with three friends when tragedy struck. The pickup truck that Tanner had been driving lost control and struck a tree. The Daingerfield Jr. High math team competed at the Regional math-science meet held at Queen City on March 7. Daingerfield has a new city manager, one who may not need a lot of introduction. In September of 2014, former city manager Carl Teel resigned due to family responsibilities and took a position as city planner for the city of Texarkana, Arkansas.
