Lone Star adopts tax rate; no change from previous year

Lone Star residents will not see an increase in their property taxes as the Lone Star City Council voted to adopt the same tax rate as last years. The rate is $0.50 per $100 valuation.

Hunting, fishing licenses are available

New licenses for the 2014-15 hunting and fishing seasons went on sale Aug.15. The current year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except year-to-date fishing licenses) will expire Aug. 31.

Campaign aims to deter drunk driving in weeks leading up to Labor Day holiday

The campaign, Aug. 15 through Sept. 1, coincides with the national increased enforcement period sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. During this time, Texas law enforcement officers step up their vigilance to arrest drunk drivers.

Cass County Criminal District Attorney Clint E. Allen releases the following names of individuals who have outstanding theft by check warrants. The Criminal District Attorney’s office will continue listing theft by check Warrants periodically. Theft warrants are being held by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department for the following individuals: 
Dora Lamb, Daingerfield; Elizabeth Lanier, Texarkana.
