Texas Water Development Board on Aug. 7, the board forced Region C to quantify the effects on Region D’s agricultural resources, according to Region D Chairman Bret Mc-Coy.

College approves calling for bond election

The board of trustees for Northeast Texas Community College approved an election for Nov. 4 asking for a 3.6 cent tax increase. The motion passed with a 6 to 1 vote; the election is planned for Nov. 4. Board member Chuck Johns voted against the election.

Daingerfield residents to see increase in trash pickup rate

The Daingerfield City Council approved a rate increase for refuse pickup for residents of Daingerfield at their Aug. 11 meeting. Gene Keenon, manager of government affairs for Republic Services Inc., said his company needs 18 cents more per week to continue serving the citizens of Daingerfield.

A local girl is sticking close to her roots by opening a beauty salon in the area where she calls home. Skye Staples, a 2011 graduate of Daingerfield High School, opened the salon located at 1687 County Road 1101.
