Request for county tax abatement is tabled

A request for tax abatement for Texas Tubular Products’ new facility was tabled by the Morris County Commissioners for further information. Alex Alrue of Texas Tubular requested the tax abatement at the commissioners Sept. 8 meeting.

School board approves projects for buildings

Progressive action on construction and maintenance
led the Hughes Springs Independent School board of trustees to approve a bid for painting the new ag/science building and the multi-purpose building. The approval was made at the board’s Sept. 8 meeting.

Republican Rally 
The Morris County Republican Party will have a rally on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. at Milano’s Pizza on Linda Drive in Daingerfield. Republican candidates Scott Sartain, Todd Freeman and Jennifer Easley will be there. Special guests will be Dr. Brad Johnson, president of Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, vice president for Advancement (NTCC).
